Rollback-to-Float

Infants to Young Toddlers (approximately 6 months - 18 months)

Children learn to roll on their backs to float, rest, and breathe. They learn to maintain this position until help arrives.

This skill set takes about 7-8 weeks to master, but can vary depending on the child.

Swim-Float-Swim

Toddlers to Young Elementary (approximately 1.5 years - 6 years)

Children learn to swim underwater until they need to breathe, roll to their back for a few breaths until rested, then swim, starting the sequence again until they reach the pool steps, side of the pool, or the shoreline.

This skill set can take 4-6 weeks for an older child to master, and typically about 7-8 weeks for a toddler to master, but can vary depending on the child.

Refreshers and Maintenance Lessons

For students who have completed the Swim-Float-Swim sequence

Refresher lessons are extremely important in continuing and maintaining your child’s ISR Self-Rescue® skill development. Children grow and develop rapidly from infants to toddlers and young children. This development process represents improved strength, coordination, and a more finely tuned cognitive ability. In accordance with this growth, children enrolled in ISR return periodically to participate in Refresher Lessons.
