Welcome!

welcome to ISR with Melissa Kerlegan

Infant Swimming Resource is the safest and most effective provider of survival swimming lessons worldwide, teaching ISR Self-Rescue® skills to children ages 6 months to 6 years old.

Infant Swimming Resource’s Self-Rescue technique teaches children how to survive if they were to reach the water alone. Lessons are always one-on-one, between the instructor and child. We do not offer group lessons since each lesson is customized to the developmental level of each child. The parent(s) or caregiver sits poolside, cheering on the child. Lessons are conducted every day of the week, Monday-Friday only, for 10 minutes each day. Studies have shown that young children learn better with frequency, repetition and lower time requirements to such vigorous activity such as swimming.

Children who can sit up unassisted and or crawl, typically between 6 months and 12 months of age learn to hold their breath underwater, roll onto their back and float unassisted until help arrives. These skills are usually mastered in an average of 6-7 weeks.

Toddlers & Big kids

Children who are walking, typically 1 year to 6 years of age learn to hold their breath underwater, swim with their head down, using their arms and kicks to swim, roll onto their back to float, rest and breathe, then flip over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool, crawl out or be rescued by an adult. These skills are mastered in an average of 6-7 weeks, depending on each child and their past aquatic experience.

Client Love

Melissa is truly wonderful. She is so patient and kind to my one year old son. He cried for weeks but now loves the water and has learned so much. I am truly impressed with how much he learned in such a short period of time. Definitely recommend!
